01/23/09 — Spring I Term Begins Feb. 17, Registration Underway
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SPARTANBURG, SC – The Spartanburg Methodist College Paralegal Program is offering a new course in its upcoming term designed to help its students increase proficiency in multimedia applications.
The Multimedia/Web Page design course is being offered in the program for the first time in the Spring I term which starts Feb. 17. Enrollment in the course is limited to 24 students.
The course will allow students the opportunity to master the skills needed to complete presentations using a variety of media. Students will use applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Front Page, and Publisher to create projects integrating text, still pictures, graphics, sound and color for an impressive presentation. Students will also gain additional experience with digital imaging.
“These tools can all be used in the office setting and will enable students to facilitate the creation of web pages for their offices and effective presentations for meetings. The course will also provide experience in publication creation which can be applied to other types of publications,” says instructor Mary McGraw.
Also being offered during the Spring I term are Introduction to Paralegal Studies, Legal Ethics, and Real Estate – Title Search II.
The Spring I term runs from Feb. 17 to April 23. The registration deadline is February 12.
A total of 20 courses, with each course meeting 10 times, and a 40-hour internship are required for completion of SMC’s Paralegal Certification Program. All legal specialty courses within the program are taught by local judges, attorneys and/or paralegals. Only 14 courses may be needed if a student has prior qualifying college courses.
Courses can be audited by the general public for $150 per course. An application to enroll in the Paralegal Certification Program, along with registration forms, can be found online by going to the Paralegal Program page at www.smcsc.edu.
Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 98th year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
