Four New Staff Members Hired at SMC

SPARTANBURG, SC -- Several individuals have recently joined the Spartanburg Methodist College staff.

Terrie BallTerrie Ball has been hired as a Counselor in the Student Counseling Center. She will also be serving as a Professor of Psychology and an SMC 102 instructor. Ball has more than 20 years of counseling experience, having most recently worked at the Charles Lea Center.

Ball, a Spartanburg native, has a bachelor's degree from Columbia College in Psychology and Religion; an M.Ed. in Counseling and Guidance from the University of South Carolina; and an Ed.S. degree in Student Development from Appalachian State University.

Julie BrightJulie Bright has been hired as Assistant Controller, a new position as SMC. Bright most recently served for nine years as a payroll coordinator for Blockbuster.

Bright, a 1997 Woodruff High School graduate, received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Converse College in 2008. She is currently pursuing a Master's from Gardner Webb University.

Michael "Doc" HollidayMichael "Doc" Holliday has been hired to fill the newly created Director of Major Gifts position. Holliday returns to SMC after 14 years with the American Cancer Society as Vice President of Major Gifts for North Carolina and South Carolina. Prior to that, he served in various positions for seven years at SMC, including in fundraising and as Director of Athletic Recruiting.

Holliday is a 1974 graduate of SMC (then Spartanburg Junior College). He received his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from the University of South Carolina.

Rick JolleyRick Jolley has been hired as SMC's Director of Facilities Management. Jolley previously worked for 26 with Celanese as a technical manager.

Jolley, a Spartanburg native, has a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of South Carolina Upstate (then USC Spartanburg) and a B.S. in Geology from the University of South Carolina.

Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 99th year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning
