SMC Paralegal Program Offering New Course on 20th Century Trials

SPARTANBURG, SC - A new course within the Spartanburg Methodist College Paralegal Certificate Program will provide students with insight to the inner-workings of some of the most talked about trials of the 20th century and their impact on today's legal system.

Sensational Trials of the 20th Century, a course that will be taught by assistant solicitor Tony Leibert, will bring the never-ending search for justice alive with more than 100 years of trials, including the Scopes "Monkey Trial," Watergate and the O.J. Simpson murder trial.

Other courses being offered include Professional Paralegal Job Search and Communications for the Law Office.

The registration deadline to sign up for the program's Fall II term is Nov. 4. The term begins on Tuesday, Nov. 9 and runs through Feb. 3.

A total of 20 courses, with each course meeting 10 times, and a 40-hour internship are required for completion of SMC's Paralegal Certification Program. All legal specialty courses within the program are taught by local judges, attorneys and/or paralegals.

The cost for each 10-session course is $300, however, the general public is welcome to audit a 10-session course for only $150.

Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 100th year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
