SMC Players' Fall Production Includes Two One-Act Plays
11/10/10
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SPARTANBURG, SC -- Spartanburg Methodist College's SMC Players will be presenting two classic one-act plays for the general public on Nov. 19 and 20 in the college's Camak Auditorium at 7:30 pm.
There will also be a performance on Nov. 18 at 7:30 pm only for SMC students, faculty, and staff.
Edward Albee's "The Zoo Story" and Jean-Paul Sartre's "No Exit" will feature an all-freshman ensemble from across the state of South Carolina.
American author Edward Albee, best known for "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe," wrote "The Zoo Story" in the mid 1950's, but it still plays like it could happen today. The play will feature David Shen, of Roebuck, SC, and Logan Archer, of Campobello, SC, as two men who have a chance encounter in New York City's Central Park.
Jean-Paul Sartre, a pre-eminent existentialist philosopher and playwright, offers his view of hell in his one act play, "No Exit."
Three people, two women and one man, find themselves in a room in hell where they will spend eternity. In the course of the action of the play, they discover that "hell is other people."
Wesley Booker, of Piedmont, SC; Mahria Barrett and Katrina Leonhardt, from Spartanburg; and Kate Newman, from Gilbert, SC, comprise the cast for "No Exit."
The show is under the direction of Chris McKinney, adjunct instructor in drama.
General admission tickets are available at the door for $5; the production is free for SMC students, faculty and staff.
