SWU president Dr.David Spittal said the university was honored to have Dr. Keith as its graduation speaker.
" Southern Wesleyan University and Spartanburg Methodist College have a common mission and a partnership that extends over many years. We were delighted to welcome Dr. Colleen Keith as its president and have been impressed with her strong sense of mission and vision for the future of the college. Her leaderships skills and her interest in students has been matched by her courage and commitment. We are honored to have Dr. Keith address our graduates both as a role model and an inspiration for all who seek to pursue excellence," says Dr. Spittal.
Keith adds that she has a great admiration for SWU and its mission.
"When I was asked by president Spittal to be the Winter Commencement speaker at Southern Wesleyan University, I was honored, humbled, and very nervous - even though I have spoken in front of large gatherings before, being asked to bring a message to a group about to move onto to pursue God's highest calling for their lives is intimidating! But my admiration for president Spittal and the work that Southern Wesleyan University does is something that I would love to honor by being their commencement speaker," says Dr. Keith.
SWU's traditional program graduation ceremony is part of its December 2010 Graduation Exercises, which also included two separate graduation ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 11. SWU conferred approximately 425 degrees, according to registrar Rock McCaskill. For details, call Southern Wesleyan University's Academic Records Department at (864) 644-5530.
