2011 Miss SMC to Be Crowned Saturday

Spartanburg, SC - Spartanburg Methodist College will crown its 2011 Miss SMC this Saturday, in an event to be shared with several of the college's past pageant winners.

Admission to the Miss SMC pageant is $5 for the general public; there is no admission fee for children, or SMC students, faculty and staff. The pageant will be held at 7 pm in Camak Auditorium.

Pageant contestants include:

  • Randi Arsenault, a freshman from Ware Shoals, SC (Ware Shoals HS)
  • Kayla Dyson, a sophomore from Taylors, SC (Eastside HS)
  • Nikki Gidney, a freshman from Chesnee, SC (Chesnee HS)
  • Kayla Jackson, a sophomore from Lugoff, SC (Lugoff-Elgin HS)
  • Kate Newman, a freshman from Gilbert, SC (Gilbert HS)
  • Mimi Peake, a sophomore from Duncan, SC (James F. Byrnes HS)
  • Robin Robinson, a sophomore from Goose Creek, SC (Goose Creek HS)
  • Kayla Susie, a freshman from Greer, SC (Blue Ridge HS)
  • Jasmine Turner, a freshman from Chester, SC (Chester HS)

SMC has invited queens from the previous years in honor of the college's Centennial Celebration. Those present will be recognized during the pageant.

A luncheon with the queens and the contestants will be held Saturday afternoon to showcase the tradition at SMC.
