SPARTANBURG, S.C. --  Spartanburg Methodist College has appointed Trina Gilliam as the new Director of Student Conflict Resolution and Ethics.

Gilliam has long been a fixture at SMC - over the course of ten years, she's worked in the Business Office, served as the director for several campus residence halls, and been Assistant Director of Residence Life. She has served on the Staff Council Committee, the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Committee, and the Retention Committee. She's been recognized as a student mentor, and earned the J.L. Geddis Staff Excellence Award in 2009.

Gilliam earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Southern Wesleyan University, and a Master's in Education from Clemson University. She served eight years in the United States Army Reserves, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority.

The Director of Conflicts and Ethics is a new position on SMC's campus. Gilliam will handle all student conduct cases and oversee programs aimed toward conflict resolution on campus. She will also continue her work as the yearbook advisor.

Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 100th year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
