Student life at SMC is largely the responsibility of the Division of Student Development. Our staff is devoted to helping students make the most of the SMC experience by developing as individuals and succeeding as students.
Our Vision:
The Student Development Staff at SMC uses a holistic approach to working with individuals and groups of students. We recognize that, while the majority of SMC students are "traditional" college freshmen and sophomores, they also:
* Represent many different backgrounds and cultures;
* are at various stages of personal development;
* have a variety of needs; and
* will experience personal and academic growth, development, and success in the SMC environment.
Our Mission:
Recognizing the Christian heritage of SMC, our mission is to develop a sense of community with honor, integrity, respect for others and personal responsibility as the core values among our students. By providing opportunities for involvement and experiential learning in a structured, yet compassionate environment, we will encourage students to develop leadership skills, celebrate cultural diversity, serve others, and succeed in academic pursuits.
Components of Student Development:
* Dean of Students
* Counseling and Career Center
* Residence Life
*Student Conflict Resolution and Ethics
