There are clubs and organizations for every interest.

Don’t see a club you want? We encourage you to start your own. Leadership positions in clubs and organizations are open to all students displaying the interest and dedication to make that organization work.

• Animal Alliance – The purpose of the SMC Animal Alliance is to provide those students, faculty and staff interested in animal welfare, careers, and volunteering with an organization to learn more about opportunities in those areas. They will engage in intellectual exploration by learning the science behind animal husbandry and rehabilitation, biology, zoology, and biodiversity. They will develop a social awareness of animal issues in the community, and they will develop personal character and a sense of community by volunteering with animals in need.

• Art Club – Provides students interested in art with a co-curricular outlet to express themselves through various forms of art including painting, drawing, sculpting, calligraphy, and more!

• Entrepreneurship Club – The SMC Entrepreneurship Club, affectionately known as TREP Club, offers students the opportunity to learn from local, regional, and national entrepreneurs and develop and design their own entrepreneurial interests.

• Gaming Society – The mission of the SMC Gaming Society is to provide all members of the SMC community (students, faculty, and staff) a chance to interact and share interests through playing games of all types.

• Got Green? Environmental Club – The Got Green? club is a group of Spartanburg Methodist students who come together to discuss environmental issues. Our goal is to make the local community aware of environmental topics such as global warming, biodiversity, recycling, and pollution. We are also involved in a network of colleges working toward community awareness and action.

• Hispanic Student Association – The purpose of the Hispanic Student Association is to support Hispanic students and their interests as well as provide educational opportunities for the entire campus on important elements of Latin and Hispanic culture.

• History, Culture, and Exploration Club – The History, Culture, and Exploration Club aims to enrich student learning outside of the classroom through travel each summer. Students engage with modern and premodern issues in history, anthropology, ethnography, and politics.

• Interactive Media Club – The purpose of the SMC Interactive Media Club is to bring together people with the interest of video games in a mutual setting to create social bonds. To promote brain development and nurture bonds of those that would not necessarily join other organizations.

• Outdoor Adventure Club – The purpose of the Outdoor Adventure Club is to promote a healthy, adventurous lifestyle. Members will pursue a number of outdoor activities that entertain and educate while enhancing their experience at Spartanburg Methodist College. Some activities will test the individual while others will require students to work in teams. Whether rigorous or relaxed, activities will build self-confidence, provide new experience, enhance the relationship with and knowledge of nature, and teach avenues through which students can maintain a life-long healthy lifestyle.

• P.O.P.S. Programming Board – People Organizing Programs Successfully. Meetings are held weekly. All SMC students are invited to attend.

• Rainbow Alliance – The purpose of the Rainbow Alliance is to provide a supportive environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual/allies (LGBTQIA) community and its allies.

• Student Government Association – Represents the student’s point of view in matters effecting SMC Community and assists in planning social/recreational activities for the student body.  Meetings are held weekly. All SMC students are invited to attend.

• Baptist Collegiate Ministry – Supports the student-led worship service, Overflow, on Thursdays at 9 pm in the Chapel; Also hosts small groups on Tuesdays at 8:00.

• Catholic Campus Ministry – Catholic Campus Ministry of Spartanburg is the official ministry to Catholic students in the Spartanburg area. Mass and dinner are held on Sunday night at 7:00 pm at the Campus Ministry Center at 544 N Church St across from Wofford College.

• UKirk Presbyterian Student Ministry – A ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) on Tuesdays at 5:30.  Students meet for food, study and worship at Second Presbyterian Church, across the street from the main entrance to Wofford College.

• Upstate CRU – Meets on Tuesday nights @ 6:30 PM in the Fireplace Room (beside the Dining Center) for a small group Bible study.

• Psi Beta Psychology Honor Society – The National Honor Society for students in the field of Psychology in the two year college. They must have completed a “B” or higher in all Psychology Classes and have maintained a 3.25 GPA overall.

• Sigma Delta Pi’s Honorary Society of the Spanish Language – Recognizes students of two-year colleges for their academic achievements in the study of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture. The candidate must have completed at least one semester of Spanish with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all Spanish courses completed.

• Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society – National Honor Society for English students meeting specified academic requirements.

• Kappa Sigma Alpha Service Fraternity – Co-ed service fraternity serving the campus and local community through various projects throughout the year.  Advisor:  Rev. Tim Drum

• Trailblazer – Campus Newspaper published several times each semester. Offers opportunity to develop research, interviewing, writing, and editing skills. All students welcome.

• Blue Granite Review – College literary magazine produced each spring; open to all students interested in creative writing and visual arts.

• Gospel Choir – Open to all students who enjoy singing and fellowship. Performs at chapel services and various on and off campus events. Practice on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 pm in the Chapel.

• Drama Club – Onstage and backstage opportunities are available to students with an interest in theater –whether you want to be in front of the audience acting or behind the scenes working on lighting, sounds, makeup, or costume design. The club puts on productions every semester and also takes trips to see other productions.

• Improv Club –  If you have a sense of humor and you like to perform, you’re welcome to join no matter what your skill level is. Students act out comic scenes without scripts.
