Vassey Selected As New SMC Admissions Counselor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College has hired Brad Vassey, a 2003 graduate of the college, to serve as its newest admissions counselor.

Brad Vassey, 25, has an Associate in Science degree with a concentration in Business Management. Vassey is also a 2005 graduate of Charleston Southern University with a B.S. in Youth Ministries.

“Brad comes to SMC with a great knowledge of the college that he will be able to pass along to prospective students and their parents. Brad is a young man of high character and deep commitment. He will be a great addition to our Admission’s staff,” says Dan Philbeck, SMC vice-president of academic enrollment.

As an admissions counselor, Vassey will be responsible for promoting the college and recruiting students at various events and at high schools in South Carolina. His primary recruiting area will the Pee-Dee and Granstrand regions of the state.

“Having been a student here, I knew that this would be a perfect fit. I enjoy being able to talk to people and like being out on the road. My goal is to help grow the school and find quality students,” Vassey says.

Vassey, a Campobello native and 2000 Chapman High School graduate, previously worked at Ritz Camera in Spartanburg.

He and his wife Carrie, who is also an SMC graduate, have been married for nearly one-and-a-half years. They live in Inman and are currently restoring a 100-year-old home.

In his spare time, Vassey enjoys photography and basketball. 

Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 96th year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
