African-American History Month Events at SMC

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  In honor of African-American History Month, Spartanburg Methodist College is presenting the following events during February:

Poet Glenis Redmond will perform at 11 a.m. Feb. 13 at Camak Auditorium. Redmond has been described as a “startling and brilliant African-American poet.”

The Sankofa African American Museum, a traveling display, will be featured in the Fireplace Room of Burgess Student Center all day Feb. 28. This is a traveling museum display, highlighting some of the most important contributions to our society made by African-Americans. The total display contains over 1,000 pieces and is owned and operated by Angela Jennings from Denmark, S.C. Jennings travels throughout the Southeast to colleges, schools and other locations.
