SMC Alum Hired As Director of Athletic Fundraising
SPARTANBURG, SC – Spartanburg Methodist College has recently hired an SMC graduate as its newest Director of Athletic Fundraising.
Michael Queen, of Spartanburg, assumed the Director of Athletic Fundraising position in February.
In this position, he will be responsible for overseeing the Pioneer Club, which raises funds to support the College’s athletic program.
Queen, 27, is a 2000 graduate of Spartanburg High School who received an Associate in Arts degree from SMC in 2002 and a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2004 from the University of South Carolina.

“It is a pleasure to have Michael Queen back at SMC. Mike understands the mission of the College from his days as a student and his past service in the office of admissions. As the SMC athletic program continues to enjoy success , Mike should provide strong leadership in helping raise funds to maintain the high level of accomplishment in this program. The College is fortunate to have a person with his potential,” says Sterling Case, SMC Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 97th year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
