Knouse Receives Exemplary Teacher Award
Recognized at Awards Day April 19

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Eunice R. Knouse, Professor of Biology and Physical Science at Spartanburg Methodist College, received the Exemplary Teacher Award during Awards Day April 19.
Knouse has been a member of the SMC faculty since 1978. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Zoology from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Bryan College. She pursued additional graduate studies at Converse College and the University of South Carolina Upstate. In past years, she has served the College as a Department Chair, Coordinator of Academic Advisement, and Chair of the 1998 Self-Study for Reaffirmation of Accreditation by SACS. She is currently serving as Chair of the Quality Enhancement Plan Team. Ms. Knouse is President of the Spartanburg Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW) and the Educational Foundation of the SC/BPW, and is an active member of Spartanburg First Presbyterian Church.
The Exemplary Teacher Award is sponsored each year by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church, and the recipient is determined by a faculty committee. The award is given to a faculty member who demonstrates excellence in teaching, shows civility and concern for students and colleagues alike, and has a commitment to values-centered education and service to students, the institution, and the community.
