Wilson Signs with SMC Softball

Strom Thurmond Athlete Signs Letter of Intent

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  Allyson Wilson has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on the Lady Pioneers Softball Team for the 2006-2007 Season.

Head Softball Coach, Rick Pauly, is pleased about the signing of Wilson because she is both a talented player and an excellent student.

Wilson has been a very solid varsity player since the seventh-grade for Coach Donnie Woolsey’s Strom Thurmond softball team. Allyson has been both a Team MVP selection and an All-Region selection. Coach Pauly likes her defensive flexibility as Allyson is a strong third baseman, second baseman and outfielder. Wilson is a very consistent contact hitter with a batting average over .400 this high school season. Most importantly, she has an outstanding academic record she will be bringing to SMC.  Pauly is looking for her to make a big impact her first year with the team.

Wilson is the daughter of Gail and Edward Wilson of Edgefield.

SMC plays in the competitive Region X of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) with teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Their upcoming competition also includes numerous games with area NCAA Divison I and II teams.
