Huggins Signs with SMC Softball
Georgetown Athlete Signs Letter of Intent
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Lauren Huggins of Georgetown has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on the Lady Pioneers Softball Team for the 2006-2007 Season.
Head Softball Coach, Rick Pauly, is pleased about the signing of Huggins who he described as a “wide-range shortstop whot can go deep in the hole and throw out runners.” She is a three time All-Region selection and a Team captain for Coach Al Hutchinson’s Georgetown team.
“Lauren has been described as a very tough ball player on both defense and on the basepaths. She is a tough out at the plate with power to both alleys. Additionally, Lauren brings a strong academic background and outstanding leadership qualities with her to SMC,” added Pauly.
Huggins is the daughter of Debbie and Marty Huggins of Georgetown.
SMC plays in the competitive Region X of the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) with teams from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Their upcoming competition also includes numerous games with area NCAA Divison I and II teams.
