Nine Sign with SMC Cross Country

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Methodist College announced the recent signing of nine runners for the 2006-2007 Cross Country season.

Signing National Letters of Intent are the following: 

Krystal Eddinger - St. James High School – Murrells Inlet, S.C.

Jermey Vangsnes – Broome High School – Cowpens, S.C.

Wells Johnson – James Island High School – Charleston, S.C.

Todd Hines – Union High School – Union, S.C.

Shane Simmons – Woodruff High School – Enoree, S.C.

Scott Bershausen – Thornwell High School – Kinards, S.C.

Spencer Griffin – Chapin High School – Chapin, S.C.

Travis Eiler – Socastee High School – Socastee, S.C.

Jared Taylor – Harry D Jacobs High School – Algonquin, Ill.

Eric Cummings is head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country teams at SMC. In recent years both Pioneer teams have placed within or near the top 10 in national JUCO rankings and had several top-ranked runners. 

In coming years, SMC will play host to national competitions in Spartanburg, including the 2007 and 2009 Half Marathon National Championships and the 2008 and 2010 Cross Country National Championships at Milliken Research Center.
