Broughton Receives
Coveted National Scholarship
For more than 70 years Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges has recognized outstanding students for academic achievement and community service. Memorial scholarships were established to honor the former program director and Chairman of the Randall Publishing Company.
Each year the Who's Who organization provides three scholarships – one each for $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000 from among all students in the nation who are nominated. Since all qualified students have been determined by their institutions to be outstanding scholastic performers, the scholarships are awarded based on a random selection by an independent judging organization. Broughton received a $2,000 scholarship as one of the three recipients from among 73,000 students who were nominated throughout the United States!
Ms. Broughton graduated from Spartanburg Methodist College in May of 2006, and will be attending the University of South Carolina in Columbia this fall. She was on the Dean's List, and was a member of Psi Beta Honor Society. In addition, she provided volunteer community service at Jesse Bobo Elementary School, Miracle Hill Homeless Shelter, and the Spartanburg Humane Society.
