Edwards Signs with SMC Softball

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  Chelsi  Edwards has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete on the Lady Pioneers Softball Team for the 2006-2007 Season.

Head Softball Coach, Rick Pauly, is pleased about the signing of Edwards, noting that she is an extremely talented softball player in addition to being an excellent student.

“Chelsi has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the state for the past two years,” said Pauly. She pitched her Chapman High School team to a State Championship her junior year and the Upper State Championship her senior year. At the High School North/South All Star Game this summer Chelsi was overpowering as she led her squad to the Championship and personally garnered the MVP award.  Edwards has been the Region 2-AA player of the year and an All State selection the past two years. Her list of athletic awards and accolades is lengthy and  Pauly is  looking for her  to make a big impact on the Lady Pioneers’ performance during her first season.

Just as impressive are Chelsi’s academic achievements, she has been an honor student all four years of high school and received the President’s Award For Excellence her senior year. Her extracurricular activities include Beta Club, Spanish Club, Newspaper Staff, Cheerleading, and Teachers Aide.

Edwards is the daughter of Joni and Eddie Edwards of Inman, S.C.
