SMC Paralegal Certificate Student Receives $1,000

Norma F. George Scholarship
               

SPARTANBURG, SC –  A student of the Spartanburg Methodist College Paralegal Certificate Program was recently awarded a $1,000 scholarship for continued education.

 Norma Galvez, of Inman, SC, a student in the SMC certification program, was awarded the Norma F. George, PLS Scholarship by the Legal Staff Professionals of South Carolina (LSPSC), an affiliate of the National Association of Legal Secretaries. The LSPSC has six chapters, including the Spartanburg County Legal Staff Professionals chapter.

 “I feel very privileged to have received the Norma F. George, PLS Scholarship Award for 2007,” says Galvez.

 ”The scholarship has helped me tremendously and has given me much hope and encouragement  to continue for my goal.  I am hoping to graduate this October and this scholarship is helping to make that happen,” she adds.

 Sonia L. Hunt, LSPSC Scholarship Chairperson, says “after a review of the applications received by our judges, Ms. Galvez was chosen as the most deserving.”

 The scholarship is awarded to an individual preparing for a career as a legal secretary or for a legal support staff person, and is based on need, merit and ability.
