SMC Cross Country Moves Up In Rankings
Men’s Team Ranked 10th, Women’s Team Ranked 19th
 

SPARTANBURG – The Spartanburg Methodist College men's and women's cross country teams continue to be ranked in the Top 20 in the nation in the Week 5 rankings released by the National Junior College Athletic Association on Wednesday. 

The men’s team moved up from 11th to 10th following their 15th place finish at the Auburn Invitational, a meet laden with Division I and Division II schools. 

The men’s team has been ranked as high as 8th this season – in Weeks 2 and 3.  

The women’s team moved up from a 20th place ranking into a tie at 19th with Pasco-Hernando Community College of Port Richey, FL, on the strength of the team’s best performance this year, which was led by sophomore runner Becca Prichard’s 17:32:84 school record time in the women’s 5K at the Auburn Invitational. 

The women’s team has been ranked as high as 14th this season – in Week 1. 

Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.  

The College is in its 96th year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
