ABCs of Orientation

New students at SMC are required to participate in three steps in the Orientation process:

  • Academic Orientation: Testing, Advising and Registration
    July 19 or August 2, 2008
  • Basic Orientation: Freshman Move-In, Day of Service, Intro to SMC
    August 15-18, 2008
  • Campus Life: Celebrate Pioneer Week as classes begin
    August 18-22, 2008

During Academic Orientation you will meet with your advisor, sign up for classes, and learn about academic life.

Basic Orientation is filled with many fun events that provide students with the opportunity to meet new friends and familiarize themselves with life at SMC.  Refer back to this page for important details, such as dates and times for Orientation activities.

All new SMC students, both residential and commuter, are required to participate in Basic Orientation. A detailed schedule will be posted soon. 

Then, Campus Life will really begin with Pioneer Week and the start of classes, and you will have even more opportunities to get involved!
