Tim Wallace Prior to his coaching career, Wallace was a standout player himself. A former second round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals, he played professionally for seven years. ![]() Matt Williams | Matt Williams Matt Williams, a former Pioneer left hand pitcher, returns for his third year as Assistant Coach. Williams also pitched for the Mid Missouri Mavericks. Since then, he has been Pitching Coach under Wallace for the American Legion Post 28 team. Williams has also assisted in youth baseball camps at SMC during the summer and has been giving private pitching lessons. As a Pioneer, Williams threw a no-hitter in the 2003 Region X Tournament game 6 against the Knights of Surry Community College. That year the Pioneers played in the National tournament at Grand Junction, Colorado. Before coming to SMC, Williams played four years for the Lancaster High School Baseball Team. Williams is the son of Steve Williams, Baseball Coach at Lancaster High School, and Jan Williams. Williams hopes to one day become a college head baseball coach. |

| Chris Kemp Chris Kemp, a former player under Coach Wallace, is beginning his first season as a Pioneer Assistant in the 2007-2008 season. Kemp will serve as Hitting coach while also assisting with recruiting. He is a 2003 graduate of SMC and was an integral part of the first class to post back to back seasons with at least 50 wins. The 2002 class finished 51-10 while the 2003 World Series club finshed at 50-16. His career totals at SMC include a batting average of .368, 14 homeruns and 84 rbi’s. He is noted also for hitting one of the longest homeruns ever at Sam Suplizio Field, home of the NJCAA World Series. Kemp went on to play at the University of Tennessee where he graduated in 2006 with a degree in Psychology. Kemp led the 2004 Volunteers’ team in RBIs. In 2006, he hit .314 with 11 homeruns. Following college, he signed with the Texas Rangers in a pre-draft contract. He is a graduate of South Forsyth High School in Georgia and played with the East Cobb Astros. Kemp has also played in the California League for the Bakersfield Blaze, in the Midwest League for the Clinton Lumberkings, in the Northwest League for the Spokane Indians, and in the Florida Collegiate League in 2005 where he led the league in hitting with a .310 average.
