Spartanburg Methodist College offers students the option to voluntarily sign up for an alert messaging service that the college utilizes through Spartanburg-based EmergaTxt.

The EmergaTxt system provides the College the capability of sending text messages almost instantly to the cell phones or email addresses in the database. 

Only selected SMC administrators are authorized to create and send messages through the EmergaTxt system, which will be used only in urgent or emergency situations such as severe weather, fire, or other incidents when immediate notification is vital.  Messages can be sent to everyone in the database, or to selected categories as appropriate.

The service is no charge to students. Enrollment is quick and easy and can be done through EmergaTxt's website www.emergatxt.com.
