Our campus is just minutes from downtown Spartanburg, a beautiful city with a population of 40,000. Whether you have a taste for Chinese food or a serious craving for pepperoni pizza, you'll have plenty of restaurants to satisfy your appetite. Spartanburg is home to the world famous "Beacon Drive-In". The Beacon is in a league of its own, and soon you'll be wondering how you ever survived without it. In addition to fine dining options, you have plenty of options to catch the latest movie or get together at a local coffee house.

If shopping is your bag, you'll find everything you need at Westgate Mall, just minutes away from campus. Westgate is just one of a variety of shopping destinations found nearby.

For concerts and musical entertainment, Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium hosts big name acts and Broadway shows and the new Barnett Park Amphitheater is a great place to sit under the stars and listen to all forms of music. Numerous festivals are held throughout the year in downtown Spartanburg so you'll never be at a loss for entertainment.

There you will see the best of the past blended with the future when you walk down a vibrant Main Street or through the revitalized West End. Be sure to check out the BI-LO Center, one of the top-rated entertainment venues in the United States and host to a wide-range of today's most popular musical artists. Or enjoy the Great American Pasttime at the new West End Field, home of the Greenville Drive, a Minor League baseball team.

If you're into the outdoors, SMC is the perfect choice. We're located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains so it's easy to fill up free time with hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing or mountain biking. Recreational snow skiing is a big student activity within the winter months and the college even offers a snow skiing course during the month of January.

Discover SMC

One of the best ways to determine if SMC is right for you is to attend one of our Discovery Days. During your campus visit, you'll be able to experience what the SMC community is all about. We'll take you on a tour of the campus to show you our residence halls, library, learning center, student union, career counseling center and athletic facilities. You'll have the opportunity to meet fellow students and talk to faculty, coaches, and staff. Exit 21-B puts you on Highway 29. Proceed to the 5th red light, turn left onto Powell Mill Road. SMC is approximately 1½ miles on the right. Enter at the Spartanburg Methodist College entrance sign. You will see a beige brick building with a glassed front. This is the Buchheit Administration Building. This building houses the Admissions and Financial Aid Offices and is where you will need to report when you visit. Please enter through the front lobby and inform the receptionist of the purpose of your visit.
