Head Coach Mark Perdue says 2007-2008 promises to be a very competitive and exciting year for the Pioneer men’s golf team.  

This year’s team hopes to build on its 2006-07 success of two tournament victories (Limestone and UVA Wise) and a Region 10 runner up finish.   

Perdue enters his third season as Head Coach and has a very talented recruiting class of eight freshmen to compliment his five returning sophomores.  

Sophomore and All-Region 10 performer Matt Jackson will anchor the team along with Andrew Fortune (Spartanburg) and Craig Hudson (York).  New team members Ryan Curran (Ontario, Canada), TJ Asbill (Batesburg Leesville), Jeff  Moats ( Abbeville), and Daniel Hardy ( Lexington) bring plenty of stellar high school and junior golf experience to the SMC program. Rounding out the team is local talent Chancen Blackwood (Broome), Greg Jaeggi (Mauldin) along with Luke Hoffman (Virginia).

Overall the team will have much greater depth in past years, which will make SMC Golf more competitive in the region.  SMC will host the First Annual SMC Fall Invitational at Cleghorn Plantation in Rutherfordton, NC.
