Admissions Requirements
for Paralegal Certificate Program

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • College transcripts where applicable
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • $35 application fee

Refund Policy

In the event a class is cancelled, a full refund will be given. For students who register and then decide to drop a class, the following will apply: 80% refund at the end of the first week and a 50% refund at the end of the second week. No refunds will be given after the end of the second week. Please be aware that once you register for a class you are added to the class roll. Therefore, if you drop a class after the starting date, your record will be noted accordingly: showing a balance owed even when you have not yet paid for the class.
A Drop/Add Form must be filled out when dropping a class. You can obtain this form from the Director of the Paralegal Certificate Program.

Paralegal Certification Program Curriculum


General Education (6 courses) -
Select from English, mathematics, history, psychology, sociology, public speaking, U.S. government, computer literacy and other liberal arts offerings.*

Required Legal Specialty (6 courses) -
Introduction to Paralegal Studies, Legal Research, Legal Ethics, Communications for the Law Office, Computers for the Law Office and Professional Paralegal Job Search

Optional Legal Specialty (8 courses) -
Select from civil litigation, criminal litigation, family law, probate, real estate law, contracts, torts, business law, employment law, and other law-related courses.

Internship – A required 40-hour internship period provides a concentrated work experience during which students have opportunities to test career choices, to integrate theory with practice, and to explore future employment possibilities in a hands-on setting.

All Legal Specialty courses are taught by local attorneys and/or paralegals. General Education courses are taught by persons with advanced degrees.

*To meet this requirement, students may transfer college credits in related courses if they have received a “C” or better in the course they wish to transfer.
