Harry Named Sports Information Director

SPARTANBURG, SC – Spartanburg Methodist College’s head volleyball coach Brittany Brittany HarryHarry has been named the College’s athletic department’s Sports Information Director. 

“We’re looking forward to Brittany’s involvement as Sports Information Director. She’ll bring a lot of creativity to the plate and help find new ways about getting the word out about what’s going on at SMC,” says Athletic Director Mark Perdue. 

As Sports Information Director, Harry will be responsible for the creation and distribution of press releases and other informational materials to the news media, as well as managing updates to the athletics end of the College’s website.  

Harry has assumed those new duties Aug. 1, in addition to those she presently holds as volleyball coach. 

“I’m excited to jump into my new position as Sports Information Director at SMC. The sky is the limit with this position;we are already working on several new endeavors to generate more representation within the local media," says Harry.

Harry is a 2007 graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate and holds a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism. While at USC, she also held a sports information internship with the USC Upstate Athletic Department and was the Internet broadcaster for all home volleyball matches in 2006. 

She is entering her second year as head volleyball coach at Spartanburg Methodist College. Harry led the Lady Pioneers to a 25-4 season in 2007, a single season record for SMC volleyball; a Region X National Junior College Athletic Association region title; and a NJCAA National Tournament appearance. She was also named District K Coach of the Year in 2007. 

Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia and West Virginia. 

The College is in its 97th of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
