Dean Leads Pioneers with 13 Kills
SPARTANBURG, SC – The Spartanburg Methodist College women’s volleyball
team remained unbeaten in Region X play with a 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 24-26, 25-16) win over Pitt CC in Bridges Arena on Saturday.
Sophomore outside hitter Tiffany Dean (Westminster, SC/West-Oak) led the Pioneers with 13 kills, seven digs, one ace and one solo block. Freshman outside Haley Cannon (Hickory, NC/Hickory) finished with 12 kills and 10 digs while sophomore middle Samantha Johnson (Summerville, SC/Summerville) had seven kills to pace the Pioneer offense.
Freshmen Taryn Blackwell (Inman, SC/Chapman) and Ashley Trunk (Columbia, SC/Ben Lippen) each chipped in with six kills, respectively.
Sophomore libero Kayla Potter (McDonough, GA/Union Grove) led the Pioneer defense with 20 digs and also chipped in with three aces.
Freshman setter Blaise Ramsbotham (Evans, GA/Greenbrier) paced the offensive attack finishing with a career-high 41 assists.
With the win the Pioneers remain unbeaten in Region X play with a 6-0 record and a 16-7 overall record.
The Pioneers will face Blue Ridge at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in Bridges Arena and will continue their Region X schedule this weekend when the travel to face off with Wake Tech CC Friday night and Guilford Tech and Davidson County CC in a tri-match on Saturday.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
