4 SMC Baseball Players Receive Regional Recognition 

SPARTANBURG, SC – Four Spartanburg Methodist College baseball players were recognized on the regional level Tuesday night for their athletic success in the 2007-2008 season. 

Sophomore pitcher Allen Caldwell, of Sumter, SC, was named  the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Region X Player of the Year. 

Named to the 1st Team All-Region was sophomore catcher Jacob Wallace, of Spartanburg.  

Sophomore catcher Logan Bland, of Charleston, SC, and freshman pitcher Josh Salay, of Catawba, SC, were both named to the 2nd Team All-Region. 

Head baseball coach Tim Wallace was named Region X Coach of the Year. 

Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.  

The College is in its 97th year of providing a quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
