The Fall 2008 schedule is loaded with mostly NCAA Division II golf tournaments for the second year Women's Golf Program.
"To become better and to have our girls noticed by bigger schools for possible transferring, it is my goal to play and compete in the toughest events we can find," says Coach Kyle Owings.
Three of the five events this fall are Division 2 tournaments, and judging by last year’s results, you can expect SMC to compete just fine against bigger schools.
Returning sophomores Karen Eite and Jessica Gibson are the leaders of this young SMC team.
"I look for Jessica and Karen to be the backbone of the team this fall. They are consistent players and I have been impressed with their energy in practice this fall," says Owings.
Also the addition of Corrinne Skelly will make a huge difference for our team.
"Corrine had some strong finishes this past summer and won the Carmel Junior, I expect her to push Karen and Jessica for the top spot on the team," says Owings.
Lauren Hubbert and Amanda Geddings finish out the squad for the fall.
The Spring has Coach Owings excited as well. He expects two strong players to finish high school early and be enrolled as SMC in the spring.
Ashley Allen is expected to play at SMC in the spring and is a high 70's shooter that will impact our team immediately.
All things considered, Coach Owings and his team are excited about what this year has to offer.
