Trey Arrington named Executive Director of IT for Spartanburg Methodist College

Spartanburg Methodist College is pleased to announce Trey Arrington has joined the college staff and will serve as Executive Director of Information Technology.

Arrington comes to SMC from the Union Hospital District where he was the Director of Information Systems. Prior to the hospital system, he served in various IT and communication roles with Exopack LLC, ProVest Wealth Advisors and IMT Duncan.

Arrington will be responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT and systems functions at SMC.  This includes directing all IT operations to meet student, staff, and faculty requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing applications and development of new technical solutions.  In addition, he will oversee the server network environment, backup systems, card access system for the residence halls, security cameras campus wide, telephone system, the printing and copying environment, and the interface between Sodexo food service system and student IDs.

Arrington will procure all new equipment and manage the IT operating budget and capital budget, ensuring IT equipment is rotated appropriately within budget constraints.  He will oversee the Vassey Information Technology Center, the SMC office of IT and Computer Services, and is responsible for staffing and supporting all computer labs on campus.

Arrington holds a BA in Information Management and Systems, with a concentration in Business Systems, from University of South Carolina Upstate. Trey and his wife Jennifer live in Union and are the proud parents of sons of Jonah (4) and John (1).
