Academic Orientation is a day-long program where you are introduced to academic life at the college. That day, you’ll meet a faculty member who will be your adviser and guide through all academic matters throughout your time at SMC.
During Academic Orientation, you’ll meet with your faculty adviser, plan your course schedule and register for classes for the fall semester.
On your scheduled Academic Orientation day, you may need to take a placement test. This short test will help your adviser determine if extra courses are needed to enhance your academic skills.
Academic Orientation is a terrific opportunity to interact with current students, staff and faculty members. You be able to:
- ask questions
- see campus facilities
- know your fall schedule of classes
- get your student ID photo made
- get EXCITED about the year to come!
There are two Academic Orientation Days during each summer. A make-up day is also provided for students who are unable to attend during the summer on the first Monday of the fall semester that freshman are on campus.
