Scholarship Facts

WHO IS IT FOR?
South Carolina high school students or recent high school graduates who are residents of the Northside of Spartanburg.

WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
Qualified students may attend Spartanburg Methodist College (SMC) and pay no tuition. Fees and (optional) housing costs are not included in the program.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Program applicants must be a current high school junior or senior or a recent graduate who is interested in attending college for the first time. You must meet all requirements to receive the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship and attend a two-year college.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
SMC applies your LIFE Scholarship and any additional federal or state grants toward the cost of tuition. The difference between your federal or state grants/scholarship and tuition is covered by SMC.

Students will receive an additional scholarship, provided by the Northside Development Group, that will cover the cost of books (up to $500 per semester).

We serve to encourage and manage the redevelopment of the City of Spartanburg’s Northside community, honoring its past and expanding the economic, educational, recreational, health, and social opportunities for its residents.
