GREENWOOD, S.C. – An inspiring story of redemption, “Time Trials” follows Wes Strong, a former elite runner who ends up in prison after making a few poor decisions. He finds literal and spiritual salvation while there through the mysterious Preacher. When he is granted an early release, Wes becomes a counselor at a shelter for abused children where he uses his newfound faith to help others. He also gets a chance to run once more, this time at the Boston Marathon where amazing things happen.
“This book is a tribute to Romans 8:28, the Boston Marathon, and the Bowers-Rodgers Children’s Home,” author Eric Smith explains. “I ran in the 2013 Boston Marathon and I was in the finish area when the bombs exploded. I also was on the original Board of Directors of the Bowers Rodgers Children’s Home. I am very thankful for Romans 8:28 and God’s gift of grace to all of us.”
From an abusive childhood to a series of mistakes, Wes eventually finds redemption and healing after meeting Preacher and beginning a new life. When his new coworker, Roxie, convinces him to resume his once-promising running career, Wes finds extraordinary things waiting for him just beyond the finish line. Come follow Wes’s exciting journey to salvation and redemption!
