Spartanburg Methodist College to Host AT&T Simulator Event to Educate Students and the Community About the Dangers of Distracted Driving – Wednesday, April 10, 2013, 10am – 4pm

Spartanburg, SC – Experience life-altering consequences of texting while driving, virtually, by getting behind the wheel of AT&T’s Texting While Driving Simulator, this Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 10am to 4pm, on the campus of Spartanburg Methodist College. The event is free and open to the public. Individuals must be 13 years of age or older to participate in the simulator.

“As parents and leaders of young people, we are continually concerned for the safety and well-being of our students,” explained Colleen Keith, President of Spartanburg Methodist College. “This experience will help our students and the community make better choices while they are driving. After all, what text is worth the risk of dying?”

In addition to participating in the AT&T simulator, students and visitors will have the opportunity to sign a no texting while driving pledge, join the #ItCanWait FaceBook and Twitter movement, receive the DriveMode phone app and free, “no texting while driving” reminder thumb bands.

The typical AT&T Texting While Driving Simulator experience takes about 5 to 15 minutes and requires completion of a pre and post driving survey.
