ABOUT SMC

Spartanburg Methodist College, founded in 1911, is a private residential liberal arts institution serving a diverse student population within the United Methodist Connection. Since its founding as the first co-op school in the nation, SMC has remained dedicated to its mission to connect education and employment. After over 100 years as an Associate Degree granting institution, the college launched its first bachelor’s degree in 2019. Today, the college’s emphasis on education and employment includes a unique professional development concentration comprised of eight required courses for students seeking associate and bachelor’s degrees.

Dining Services Positions

All employees of Spartanburg Methodist College are entrusted with assisting the College to achieve its vision and mission. Customer focus, college service, and a willingness to assist as needed are expectations of all employees.

Evening Utility (part-time) 

Two positions available

Hours: 4pm-9pm. Monday-Friday

Maintaining a clean dining room & kitchen, pot washing, floor mopping, re-stocking (will train)

Interact with students in a positive manner

No experience necessary

Rotisserie Cook (part-time)

One position available

Hours: 9am-2:30pm, Monday-Friday

Prepare, cook, and serve rotisserie chicken and other products. Interact positively with students, faculty, and staff.

Some cooking experience helpful.

Weekend Cook (part-time)

One position available

Hours:  10am-7pm, Friday-Sunday

Prep and assist on Friday, prep and cook brunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday.

 Cooking experience required.

We prepare real food by hand every day in our dining service. No microwaves or can openers to be found.

We welcome good people with lots, some, or no experience. We provide the training you need to feel confident working at any station- grill, cashier, utility, rotisserie and more. We take pride in our exceptional customer service and it’s up to each of our team members to create the friendly atmosphere that our students expect and enjoy. So, whether you have experience as a dishwasher, cashier, line server, cook, prep cook, or no experience at all, we are always looking for passionate and enthusiastic people to join our team.

Requirements (the fine print):

  • You have to be at least 16 years old to work at the College
  • You need to be able to communicate in the primary language(s) of the work location
  • All offers of employment for these positions are contingent upon satisfactory results of a background investigation, physical & drug screen

Come to the Student Center located just inside the west entrance of the College on Powell Mill Road. Look for first parking lot on the left and the blue sign that says “Food Service Deliveries”. Park, come in the back door, and ask for Hilde.
