Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a one-year, full-time appointment for Professor of Communications and Public Speaking for the 2021-2022 academic year with the possibility of reappointment for another academic year. Spartanburg Methodist College has a long history of providing excellent undergraduate education for students who are traditionally underserved in higher education. The standard teaching load for professors is eight courses per academic year: four courses in the fall semester and four courses in the spring semester. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include four sections of Public Speaking per semester.
A Ph.D. in Communications or a related field is preferred. Candidates who have completed their doctoral coursework and those with a master’s degree in Communications or a related field may also be considered for the position. The successful candidate will have: a clearly articulated teaching philosophy; experience with first-generation, non-traditional, and/or traditionally underserved student populations; and a record of teaching excellence.
