The Paralegal Certificate Program at Spartanburg Methodist College will feature an Advanced Legal Research and Writing course as well as a Technology and Trial Preparation course during the May/June term starting on Tuesday evening, May 7th at 5:30 p.m.
Each course is designed for beginning students as well as employed legal professionals who need to enhance their skills of analysis and synthesis of legal resources, verification of current case law and statutes, and proper citation of legal resources. The technology course will emphasize document preparation, Excel spreadsheets and Power Point presentations focusing on evidentiary presentations.
The SMC Paralegal Certificate Program offers adult students convenient evening hours and a quality education taught by legal professionals. Classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. Tuition is $325 for each course, or $175 to audit. Paralegals, who work under the direction of an attorney, perform research, draft legal documents, assist with financial/corporate transactions and prepare for trial. In addition to being employed in law offices, paralegals work in corporations, banks, hospitals, colleges and universities, insurance firms, government agencies, real estate companies, trust and estate administration, property management, and commercial lending.
