Yes, each student is provided with a bed, a desk, chair, a dresser and a closet.  No furniture may be added or removed from the room without permission from the Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct.  Sofas, chairs, futons and other upholstered items are not permitted in the residence halls.

Bridges and Sparrow Halls have regular twin mattresses (39x75).  Judd, Kingman, Parsons, Hammond and Willard Halls have extra-long twin mattresses (39x80).  Mattress pads are provided.  Students must bring sheets, pillows and blankets.  Extra-long sheets can be found in the "Back-to-School" section in most stores.

Students are permitted to bring a refrigerator and a small microwave.  The refrigerator must be 4.3 cubic feet or smaller.   SMC endorses the use of the Energy Star rated MicroFridge unit.

Yes, you may use adhesive strips/hangers only.  Nothing can be nailed or drilled in the walls or doors.

Yes, all of the residence halls are wireless ready and are equipped with 2 data ports per room, which requires a ethernet cable.  Anytime, the wireless network is down it is good to have this as a backup options.

No, students can come and go as they please. We do ask that they are respectful to their neighbors when entering or exiting the building.

Bridges, Judd, Kingman, Parsons, Hammond and Sparrow Halls are controlled by a computerized card access system;  therefore the buildings remain locked at all times.  Access is gained using the student’s ID card and a personal identification number.  Willard Hall requires a special code be entered to gain entry.  Students are not permitted to add additional locks to their doors.  Emergency call boxes are located throughout campus and Campus Safety is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  For more information, please contact Campus Safety (864.587.4003).

A student’s meal plan is included in the cost of living on campus. This allows students unlimited meals per week in any of our  food service venues: the SMC Dining Center or Judd Cellar Coffee Shop.

Freshman students will move in on Saturday, August 17th between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  Students living in  Bridges, Judd, Kingman and Sparrow Halls need to report to the individual residence hall for check in.  Students living in Parsons Hall will check in at Judd Hall.  Male students living in Willard Hall and Hammond Hall will check in at the Post Office located in the Student Center.  Returning students will check in on Monday, August 19th.  

Students living in Judd, Hammond and Willard Halls will have the housekeeping staff clean the bathrooms; however, we do ask that the students be courteous and clean up after themselves.  Students living in Bridges, Kingman, Parsons and Sparrow Halls will be responsible for cleaning their own bathrooms since they are in a suite-style residence hall.

Each residence hall is equipped with at least one laundry room. It is free to wash and dry clothes.  The washers require high efficiency detergent.
