COVID-19 Guidelines for Spring 2021
Student athletes represent SMC. As leaders, you’re a valued part of the SMC family! We want you to feel safe on campus this fall.
You’ll also play an important role in protecting yourself and others from COVID-19 as you practice, travel and compete this semester.
The Athletics Plan below is provided to help you understand all that SMC is doing to ensure we slow or prevent the spread of COVID-19. Your coaches and trainers will help you understand your responsibilities as students and as athletes.

As Pioneers Together, we'll work to prevent COVID-19 spread on campus
Keeping the campus community protected from COVID-19 will take all of us: students, staff and faculty. Here's the full plan for how SMC will work across the four major areas of protection - hygiene, masks, social distancing and health tracking - to slow or prevent a COVID-19 outbreak from closing campus this fall.
As Pioneers Together, we'll do what's needed to protect others.
As Pioneers, we're used to being tough and moving forward, no matter what. When it comes to COVID-19, it's tempting to tough it out and power through if you are exposed to COVID-19 or feel sick.
But COVID-19 doesn't just affect us as individuals, it affects ALL of us. For that reason, we need to do things differently than we might normally.
All students, faculty and staff are required to quarantine and isolate if:
- You are exposed to COVID-19
- You test positive for COVID-19
- You have symptoms of COVID-19
Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from SMC.
The information below will help you know what to do if COVID-19 affects you. We're in this together, and you won't be alone. Pioneers take care of Pioneers!
