The 2016 Miss SMC Pageant was held January 24, 2016, at 6 p.m. in Gibbs Auditorium on the SMC campus. Sarah Grace Reed, a freshman student from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, won the crown and the right to represent Spartanburg Methodist College in this summer’s Miss South Carolina Pageant in Columbia, South Carolina.
Reed is an accomplished singer and actor, appearing in 13 Spartanburg Youth Theatre shows during the last six years and serving as the president of its junior advisory board. She is the recipient of numerous awards in piano and vocal performance from the National Federation of Music Clubs. During the pageant talent competition, Reed sang “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from the 1964 musical “Funny Girl.”
During a year of public appearances, Reed will work to support and promote local arts and arts education, her pageant platform issue.

First Runner-Up: Jacosha Nicole Simpson, sophomore, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina
Second Runner-Up: Corin Hewins, sophomore, of Greenville, South Carolina
