After chasing what he thought was his dream of a career in the music industry in Nashville, SMC Senior John Wilson discovered the bright lights and big city weren’t the dream he thought.

He wanted to return to where he earned his associate degree but wasn’t sure how challenging the process of transferring back would be. Fortunately, with the help of some old acquaintances at SMC, transferring was a breeze.

“It really was as easy as picking up the phone and calling my old advisor to see what I had to do to come back,” Wilson said. “Brandon (Lyles) was great in walking me through the process and making sure transferring back was easy and fast.”

The transfer process can seem daunting, but at SMC, the staff is committed to easing the process and making the steps as painless as possible. The College offers up to 60 hours of credit for a previously earned associate degree, and you can also get credit for work experience, military service, educational credentials, and more.

“I knew when I decided to leave college in Nashville that SMC was where I belonged,” Wilson said. “The small atmosphere, committed faculty, and professional development program are exactly what I needed.”
