Objective

The goal is to connect and introduce SMC, and the arts it has to offer, to Spartanburg county junior and senior artists and to connect those students to the surrounding community with a focus on the arts community.

The SMC Junior Artist Project is a community art program focused on highlighting high school visual artists within Spartanburg county. Visual (2D) artists will be chosen at the beginning of the semester to exhibit works of their own at the SMC Studio in Downtown Spartanburg for six weeks. A reception will be held on the open night of the exhibit and the community is invited to attend. Students’ works will be displayed during the downtown art walks and other downtown cultural events.
