Summer Classes

Get Caught Up or Get Ahead with Summer Classes at SMC!


REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Please note: 

  • Summer class for 2022 will be announced at a later date! 

For New Students and Transfer Students:

A new student is one who has not been previously enrolled at SMC or is not currently enrolled at another institution.

Steps:

1. Complete the Summer College Application for New Students.

2. You will also need to provide the following with your completed Application for Summer College:

  • Your high school transcript with graduation date.
  • Transcripts from all colleges attended.

For Current SMC Students (Continuing Students)

A continuing student is a student who is currently enrolled at SMC.

Steps:

1. Enroll directly with your adviser.

2. OR, you may also register directly with the SMC Registrar's Office (located n the Buchheit Administration Building).

For Transient Students

A transient student is one who is currently enrolled at another college or university. Please note: the in-person four-week courses  are not available to transient students.

Steps:

1. Complete the Summer College Transient application.

2. We also require your institution’s Transient Permission Form, which must be uploaded as part of the application process.  The form should include: your name, the courses you have permission to take, the signature of your Registrar or Academic Dean.

3. The deadline to submit an Application and Transient Permission Form for 2022 is TBD.

What you need to know:


Course Load: Students may take no more than 2 classes at a time.

Payment Details: We are offering scholarships for classes, housing and meal plans for the Summer 2022 semester.

Here is how it will work:

  • For returning/continuing students, SMC will use federal stimulus dollars to make up any shortfall in your summer tuition and book charges. As a result, you:
    • Pay $0 for tuition
    • Pay $0 for fees
    • Pay $0 for books
    • Pay $0 for your meal plan
    • If you choose to be a residential student, you pay $150 for housing

Housing: Opportunities for housing will be limited, so please fill out the summer housing form as soon as possible.  The form can be found here.

Classes Begin: All classes begin on TBD.

Drop Period:  The deadline to drop online courses (both the online four- and online eight-week courses) is TBD.  The deadline to drop the in-person four-week courses is TBD.

Last Day to Withdraw with a “W”The online four-week course withdrawal deadline is TBD. The online eight-week course withdrawal deadline is TBD. The in-person four-week course withdrawal deadline is TBD.

Financial Aid:  A 2021-2022 FAFSA must be on file with the SMC Financial Aid Office. Aid will be awarded based on the student’s eligibility for Federal and State aid.

Books: Textbooks are included in the cost of the course.
