SMC Online

Minimum Technology Requirements

To participate in SMC Online courses, students are required to have a working webcam, microphone, and speakers. To help support a smooth and successful online learning experience, the remaining specifications below are highly recommended minimum technology requirements.

Operating System

• Windows: Windows 11 or newer
• Mac: macOS 13 (Ventura) or newer
  • Mac devices are highly recommended to be equipped with Apple Silicon (M1 chip or newer)

Web Browser

• Google Chrome, version 120 or newer
  • Chrome should be kept up to date for security and compatibility.

Internet Connection

• Minimum 750 Kbps download speed
• Minimum 1.5 Mbps upload speed

Camera & Audio (Required)

• A working webcam (built-in or external) is required
• A microphone and speakers (built-in or external) are required

The following technology is not compatible with SMC Online courses:

• Google Chromebooks
• Tablets
• Phones

Please note: Not meeting these technology recommendations may impact a student’s ability to participate fully in course activities and may affect the student’s ability to make satisfactory academic progress.
