SMC Alum Credits Camak Core for Entrepreneurial Success

Andrea Jerkovic (’21) was still a student at Spartanburg Methodist College when she began building the foundation for what would become Forget Me Not Flower Farm. Today, she credits SMC’s Camak Core program with giving her the skills – and the confidence – to run and grow that business.
“The concepts of professional development really do work,” Jerkovic says. “They helped prepare me for real-world situations and gave me confidence in myself as a young professional.”
Jerkovic credits SMC’s Camak Core program and professional development courses with helping her build a strong foundation for her career. Through the program, she gained hands-on experience in leadership, communication, and community engagement, skills she uses every day as a co-owner of Forget Me Now Flower Farm.
Whether she’s writing business proposals, applying for grants, or speaking about her business, Jerkovic feels prepared to take on new challenges. She said her experience in the Camak Core program pushed her, which showed her she could succeed.
She is currently working on grant applications that will help expand the farm and add greenhouses, creating new opportunities for future growth. Looking back on her time at SMC, Jerkovic says the college provided countless opportunities for personal and professional development.
“SMC may be small, but it’s mighty,” she says. “I had so many opportunities to grow, and the skills I learned continue to make a difference in my life and career.”
