High-performing students who enroll in on-campus degree programs can get rewarded for their academic achievements at SMC with one of our two  scholarship offers that cover the cost of tuition.

All South Carolina LIFE Scholars with a 4.0+ GPA qualify for the Pioneer Promise Scholarship, which covers tuition, fees, AND books. So, all you pay is room and board if you live on campus or nothing if you commute.

With the Full-Tuition Scholarship, any student with a 3.0 or higher GPA who is eligible for the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship gets tuition covered at SMC as long as they maintain eligibility.

Several Degree Options

Spartanburg Methodist College offers 12 bachelor's degrees ranging from business to psychology to sport management. Combined with our unique Camak Core professional development program, SMC develops the most workplace-ready graduates in the Upstate. A four-year degree in a supportive atmosphere at an affordable price is the way college should be.

In addition, we offer seven associate degree programs. All SMC students earn an associate degree before moving on to their bachelor's program, giving them two degrees in four years.

Six of our bachelor's and four of our associate degrees are offered completely remote through SMC Online.

Career Training Built In

In addition to a great academic education, SMC also provides career-focused skills that teach students how to function and flourish in the workforce as part of their degree.

Our unique Camak Core professional development program is a built-in part of their studies. It teaches tangible skills that prepare graduates for the workplace, including professional communication, collaboration, problem solving, and leadership. These skills provide our graduates with an advantage in securing their first big job, the confidence to enter the workplace, and the skills to succeed in their career.

It can be intimidating to move on to college. SMC provides students a community of support that will help ease that transition. On our small, diverse, friendly campus, we provide a welcoming environment focused on the success of each student.

With small class sizes, our students receive more personalized attention from their professors, who get to know their students and work with them to help them succeed. Free tutoring services are available to all students as well. Students first, students always is what drives our approach.

Our unique, single-advisor approach provides students with one person who serves as their academic advisor, career coach, and cheerleader. They will help students choose classes, make sure they're staying on course to graduate, work with them to find internships, and just be someone to listen if they're having a difficult time. College is a time for students to learn and grow. In addition to their studies, they are learning how to live independently and growing into young adults. At SMC, we provide them opportunities to find their passions and experience life on their own.

Our residence halls are a great place for students to meet new people, develop a new group of friends, and get involved on campus.

Even if they don’t choose to live on campus, there are dozens of groups and activities they can join to get the true college experience. From interest groups like the art club and video game club to professional and leadership organizations like the Student Government Association and the Kappa Sigma Alpha community service club; they will certainly find something that meets their interests — or they can start their own club.

Our SMCX Involvement team develops numerous activities throughout the year. The student-led Xvibes group works with the Involvement team to plan fun activities like movie nights, game nights, dances, and more.
