David Gibson, who served as SMC Professor of Mathematics for 42 years and was a two-time North American Scrabble Champion, passed away on November 22 after an extended illness.

Known for his gentle demeanor and devotion to his students and the SMC mission, Gibson will be greatly missed by students, faculty, staff and alumni of the college.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Spartanburg.
