SMC is excited to announce that Dr. Kirk Hansen has been appointed to the Spartanburg Methodist College faculty as professor of History. Hansen, who completed his doctorate in history from the University of Dundee in Scotland in 2015, has been employed at SMC as an adjunct faculty member since January.

Outside of the classroom, Hansen’s research interests focus on the experiences of Scottish Jews in World War I. In Spartanburg, he plans to pursue similar research with local minority communities. At SMC, he’ll teach courses focused on U.S. and European history to undergraduate students.

Hansen earned master’s (2009) and bachelor’s (2007) degrees in history from Bob Jones University.
