Spartanburg Methodist College student Nina Shea received the 2026 Keith Crossland Scholarship, awarded by the South Carolina Probation and Parole Association (SCPPA) in recognition of her academic achievement, commitment to service, and potential as a future leader.

“I’m so proud to receive this scholarship,” said Shea, a freshman studying criminal justice and psychology. “It’s an honor to even be considered for this award and live up to the standards Mr. Crossland set.”

The scholarship was established in memory of Hearings Officer Keith Crossland to honor his commitment to service, leadership, and helping others. Each year, it is awarded to a student who demonstrates exceptional promise and embodies the qualities Crossland represented throughout his life and career.

SCPPA President Mark Childress and board members Mark Simmons, Jerry Edge, Stephen Shea, and DeJohnta Baxter joined Nina’s parents, Nicole and Stephen Shea, on campus to present the award.

“Shea’s scholarship application stood out for its clarity of purpose, impressive academic record, and strong commitment to serving others,” said Childress, president of SCPPA. “These qualities reflect the values at the heart of the Keith Crossland Scholarship and its mission to recognize promising students dedicated to making a positive impact.”
